Hello Scotty!!! I’ve been watching your videos forever and when you did the video on the Toyota Solara, I went out and bought one!! Love the vehicle and nothing wrong with it. Now I’m looking at a 2009 Toyota Matrix XRS. It has a 145k miles on it and the dealer is asking 7k for it. It looks super clean and cargar is clean. Do you think it is worth the purchase?🤔🤔

I’d pass, the 2.4L in the Matrix were known to burn oil.

If you must buy it, have a mechanic perform a pre-purchase inspection, and try to reduce the price as best you can.

If the engine is in bad shape, just walk.

I would not pay that much money for a 12 years old Corolla hatchback.

I would run away from this car. The engine is known defective, which would make me wary, but the fact they are asking 7 grand for a 12 year old esentially discontinued Corolla variant is typical dealership nonsense. I'm in California as well and thats just ridiculous maybe 6 grand at most. If you are interested in the Toyota Matrix, I would go with the 1.8 I4 engine. If all of them are this overpriced, give the Pontiac Vibe 1.8 or Honda Fit a chance.

Good luck

I would stay away from that car. $7 grand for a Matrix with a  2.4 L engine that's notorious for excessive oil consumption is absurd. I wouldn't even offer $4000 for that car. I would look at an older matrix like 2007 since they had no oil consumption problems and those can run forever.
