Today I found out that some of the mr2's engines (talking about the 2000-2007 ones) are made by yamaha or at least some parts are made by them. My question is weather they are solid engines or they are oil burners like the celica's yamaha engines? Also I'm qurious if there's an option with the well known 1.8 corolla engine?

The problem Yamaha/Toyota engine was the 2ZZ-FED, which made 180 hp, but was not up to usual Toyota standards. The 3rd Generation MR2 (00-07) used the 1ZZ-FED, which made 130 hp, and was/is quite reliable.
