Scotty! Please shed a tear for my 2007 4Runner v8 that was totaled with 250k miles after I was tboned in rural Kentucky :,(
I just purchased a brand new 2021 Tacoma v6, and I was wondering if you could give me any tips on the break-in procedure for the first thousand miles. I want this truck to last me the next 15 years
thanks
sam
If you want that truck to last for a long time, change the oil every 5k, the trans fluid every 30k. Don't drive around like a race car otherwise it will wear out faster and it won't last long.
The owner's manual gives the break-in procedure. Stuff like easy on the brakes for the first few hundred miles. Don't drive at the same speed for hours at a time, etc.
Treat it like a new girlfriend and you'll be all set. I have a 2015 Taco I purchased new. I Do all the extra maintenance on trani/diff/transaxle etc and now have 110k. Runs like new!
