TPMS issue

I bought a vehicle which had a bad tpms sensor. I bought a new one and it worked for about an hour of driving then quit working. I took it in to the shop and they said they would take a look at it and do a relearn and now they say my left one doesn’t work. It was working before they hooked their scanner up to my vehicle and now none of them work. It’s a 2010 cobalt they said that they have to all sync together to work. So I spent $75.00 for the light to stay on. Is it possible that my left front went bad or did they screw up something? It was working before they scanned it and now none of them are working.

well if one was bad already, it's not out of the question that other go bad too. Especially if it's the battery that died.

The batteries inside a TPMS sensor usually last anywhere from 6 to 12 years.  I’m sure you can find examples just outside of this range.  Your vehicle is MY2010 so if one was bad before you bought the vehicle it is entirely conceivable the rest were near the end of their life as well.  That being said, you said the new one that was installed quit after one hour of driving - that doesn’t make sense unless the sensor was bad (which brand did you buy?) and/or the TPMS system itself went haywire on you (that’s GM electrical gremlins for you).   They should diagnose at least the one that went bad and resolve the issue there, but for piece of mind I would have gone with aftermarket units you can screw onto your valve stems and save money/hassle that way.  Scotty made a video on those.

Clarification, when you say none of them work do you mean just those 2 or all 4?  Normally if a sensor is going to fail due to low battery you can detect it with a (handheld) TPMS scanner by walking to each tire and scanning for the code/battery/temp, so I am wondering if they even did a thorough job in the first place.  Hopefully, all 4 did not fail at once - that is statistically highly improbable.  If you had a proper scan tool, you can dig deeper yourself to see what is going on.
