have 1987 5.7 ltr 4speed auto with od. when shift from park to reverse slams into gear,does not do it id drive. also no tranny slippage goes like a vet. do i need a rebuild or is something out of wack???
You're missing a few items here which would be helpful.
What’s the condition of your transmission fluid? check it using the dipstick.
fluid is good and full not over filled,

still looking for answer for 1987 vet auto tranny, slams in reverse, not forward, fluid is not burnt, has good color, not noticing any slippage, shifts nice and goes really nice. could it be linkage, torque converter, or what else. in storage now be out in april have have traanny checked ouy but don,t wnat be left without any options. tranny is 4spd od auto i believe according to owners manual says(700 r4)
