2004 Ford Explorer 4.0L 176k Miles I have an issue more commonly in colder weather when I shift my transmission from park to drive or reverse there is a delay sometimes up to 30 seconds before it actually engages, after driving around for a while and the engine reaches normal temp. It shifts fine afterwards. Sometimes I can be at a stop light and I feel a slight jerk and it seems like my vehicle is in neutral I rev the engine a bit and it shifts back to drive. Up until last week i had no codes until a p0720 Output speed sensor code came up along with p2106 throttle limited power. Also last week when the speed sensor code came on I noticed sometimes when I try to accelerate from a stop the vehicle hesitates can this be related? The vehicle has no dipstick so I have no way of checking fluid there are no visible leaks from the trans.
Well generally that's the sign of the transmission starting to go out. Glut he might try having that output sensor replaced and the filter and fluid and pray it helps just realize those have limited transmission lifespan in yours is probably pretty close to the end of its lifespan
