Hello... i have a Ford F150 2001 with 235000 Miles with a 4-speed automatic transmission I recently took the truck to a mechanic that he said he was going to do the transmission fluid change now I did watch how much fluid did he put back in he put the same fluid drained out it would look around 6 quarts a brand new fluid so then I drived home and I went to check the transmission fluid when got home so I pull up the dipstick of the transmission and I still see some brownish color on the dipstick now I know that there is still some old fluid in the torque converter but I don't know if that affected the new fluid (please reply) 🙂👍

Punctuation please?

When you do a drain and fill partial fluid change that typically changes 1/3 of the fluid. So if your fluid was dirty when you started it's still going to look fairly dirty afterwards. Doing 3 drain and fills, driving a while between times, will result in about 90% fresh fluid in the transmission.

Strictly speaking, I don't think drain and fills quite get that much out. First drain and fill, 33% new fluid. The next drain and fill, you will now be removing 33% of the fluid again, but you also removed 1/3 of the new fluid you put in the last time, resulting in about 22% new fluid, or after the second drain and fill, you have now changed 55%. The third time, you get about 15% new, now you have changed out about 70% of the fluid, which is still good.
If my math is wrong, somebody please correct me.

I got 70% as well (assuming 1/3 yield , after 3 changes). And I think that's worst case scenario. Especially if you have a deep transmission pan like pickups have.
While you have the filter pulled out, just shove a hose in the opening, feed the pump some fresh fluid, and let 'er rip. You'll push even more dirty fluid out of the TC and cooler and it'll fall right into your catch pan that you already have laid out. No messing with cooler lines needed.

it's fine. Just keep changing it regularly.

Did he change the filter?
