I got a 2015 Toyota Corolla S Plus with almost 105k miles on it (CVT transmission) and I think its due for a transmission fluid change. Should I spend the money to take it to a toyota dealer to get serviced or should I just go with Valvoline/Jiffy Lube for their cheaper service?
Stay away from dealers, chain shops, and quick-lube joints. Find a good local mechanic.
If it has the same CVT as the prius, thankfully it is very easy to drain it completely and fill at least. Similar to a differential, just a drain and fill plug.
I did my 2013 prius with Amsoil fuel efficient version at 80k, ran terrific until I sold it at 180k.
Between a quick lube and the dealer, I’d go dealer. You’ll pay a high premium for the dealer, but they will usually get it done right.
But like others said, try to find a trusted local independent mechanic. Especially if they specialize in Toyota or Japanese cars.
