I have a 2005 Mazda 3 with 125,000 miles on it. As of late, it will shift hard (feels like you are being tapped from behind) The AT light comes on temporarily but then shuts off. If I give it gas slow, it doesn't do it and also seems like when the temperature is warmer it does it less often. Any idea what it could be or where to start?
Possibly draining and filling ya tranny oil?
Have you checked the transmission fluid level? What is its condition? How long since fluid and filter (if so equipped) have been changed?
Fluid level is good. Honestly its probably original. Bought it second hand with 100k miles on it.
If the fluid has not been changed in 125K miles that's most likely the cause of the problem. Transmission is probably worn out due to lack of maintenance.
This is a 17 year old car. It should have had its transmission fluid and filter changed at least 3 times by now.
I am going to do that. I doubt it was ever changed. I bought it with 100k on it for my dad
