Hello, my transmission experiences a rough shift from 1st to 2nd gear and is still under warranty from the dealership. The dealership told others with this same issue that it is normal for this to occur. And there is nothing for the dealership to do. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

The dealership is lying, as usual.  At the very least, they should put the dealer level scan tool on it to check for codes.  Then change the fluid and filter.  At the worst, they owe you a new torque converter or a new transmission or both.  Their favorite line is "That's normal."  It is NOT.

There are no recalls yet on the 2020 models but the 2017-2019 Colorados had serious transmission problems.

Dealerships like saying "it's normal" to avoid doing warranty work because it has no profit in it for them. I just did a quick Google search and a lot of people are saying they have this problem on a number of Colorado forums, so I would suggest you look at those posts and get some ideas as to what they have done or if they have been able to get it covered by Chevy. Below are a few for a start; you can find more:

Yes, this is common but no it is not normal. @doc is right that the torque converters on the GM 8-speed transmissions are a problem. It affects both Colorado/Canyon and Silverado/Sierra.
Tim Esterdahl at Pickup Truck Talk has covered this a fair amount. There is also quite a bit about it on the Colorado forums. I’d look at recent posts to see what you might be able to do to get it rectified.
