Truck won’t start

2011 ram 1500 4.7 129,000 miles. I had a 1/4 of tank of fuel and filled it at a Mobil gas station by me. The truck started fine. Drove to work 15 minutes away and later that night when leaving my truck would crank but not start. I replaced the battery, and alternator and starter within the past few months.  I took a hammer and banged on the gas tank to see if it was the fuel pump. I then had some dry gas which I put in and waited an hour after putting it in. The truck started but it was difficult starting.  I had to drive the truck rather then have it towed because it was midnight and I have people I have to take care of. I never changed the spark plugs or wires yet but I am thinking it’s the gas from the station because I have had no issues starting until I filled up my tank. What’s your thoughts or advice? I figure I will have to suck all the gas out of the tank

Check low hanging fruit like air and fuel filters and spark plugs. See the FAQ section on diagnosing starting problems.

Ok so I checked the fuses and relays all good. Checked fuel pump also. I know that’s working, I took the cap off main fuel line, I pushed the shader valve in gas came shooting out like a rocket when I had another person try to start the truck which it did. Had person turn the truck off. Put the cap back on the fuel line went to start truck up truck did not start up. I am baffled??? Need help, any ideas?

Did you run through all the troubleshooting steps outlined in the FAQ? Did you spray some starting fluid into the intake to see if you have spark? Did you check to see if your fuel injectors are firing? Did you hook up a scan tool to see if you get an RPM reading while cranking?

I did watch the FAQ part. Did most except spray starter fluid and will check fuel injectors. As I said I pressed in the sharadee valve had the person go to start which it did. I will look at the scanner I have it’s only one of those $100 dollar ones which help for sure but not detailed like a real mechanics

I did forget to mention when the truck started after pushing in the shrader valve on the fuel line the truck engine sounded normal. No sputtering or stalling out

If the engine is mechanically sound and you have compression, fuel, and ignition it would start up. You are missing one or more of those items.

I will get some engine starter and give it a spray. If the engine does start after then it would be an ignition problem? Possibly ignition switch going bad or I will change all the plugs and wires. I know I said this before but I took the cap off the fuel line, pressed in the shrader had the person crank the truck, gas came shooting out like a jet and it did start up. However putting the fuel line cap back on and then trying to start it it wouldn’t start. Truely want to say thanks for all your help and hate sounding like broken record. My brothers would have figured it out and would have had everything fixed

No problem - if it fires up with starting fluid then you have spark and it's a fuel delivery problem.

Morning. So I sprayed some starter fluid into the air filter intake, truck started right up and kept running. No sputtering or stalling out. When I turned the key I could hear the noise of the fuel pump turning on. With 1/4 of a tank after filling up at that Mobil gas station is when I had the problem thst night. Could it be bad gas? I mean it would sputter and stall out if it was but the truck kept running. I didn’t take it for a drive because if it bad gas I don’t want to ruin the engine so I was thinking of draining the entire tank and putting gas in from the station I normally go to. Just confused when I checked the FAQ. Saw Scotty’s video I seem to have the spark, compression, and fuel. I will let the truck sit for a bit then go out to see if it starts again.

Bad gas is not very common but I suppose it is possible. Howeve it's more likely you have weak spark or not enough fuel being supplied to start a cold engine. Checking the spark plugs would be a good idea. If they're original they're probably due for replacement.

You're getting to the point where simple mechanical attempts at diagnosis are not going to be enough and it's going to be necessary to break out a high-level professional scan tool and an oscilloscope to analyze the problem.

I will get some engine starter and give it a spray. If the engine does start after then it would be an ignition problem?

Logically, if giving it more fuel helps it to start, then that means it's not getting enough fuel.

If the ignition doesn't work, then it won't start at all.

So it could be the fuel pump which I do hear it turn on but it may not be sending enough fuel? Could be a coincidence that I started having the issue right after I filled up at this Mobil gas station that I have only gone to twice. Thank you by the way for the reply. Anything I learn from you guys I pass it on to others or try to help out myself. Me I seem to be better at electronics. My brothers and nephew are able to strip an entire engine and car down to nothing, turn it into hot rods or whatever they choise

Starter truck up using starter fluid again fuel pressure gauge was 61psi and holding steady.

ok so fuel pressure is good. What about the injectors? Can you hear them clicking?

Didn’t hear any clicking. It maybe the TIPM fuel relay. I ordered a bypass to test it out

Figured out it was the internal fuel pump relay. Going to open up the TIPM and solder out the old one and solder in the new relay

Was not sure if I should addon or start new post since other one was old. Long story short. 2011 ram 1500 4.7 cranks but no start. I put new battery, alternator, starter, serpentine belt in. Did that in the past 6 months. 1/4 tank of gas, fillies up at Mobil noticed ram little rough on start. Leaving work truck wouldn’t start. Dry gas in managed to get truck started. Did all of Scotty’s tips from faq page. Checked relays, fuses, air filter they were all good. Starter fluid into air intake truck started right up and didn’t die. Got fuel pressure gauge and connected. Turn key 3 times pressure was 50psi. Starter truck up using starter fluid again fuel pressure gauge was 61psi and holding steady. Turned truck off. Tried to restart. It cranked but no start. 130,000 miles with original spark plugs. Issue only after I filled my truck up. Bad gas?

2011 ram 1500 4.7
So I checked fuel pressure with pressure gauge. 3x’s turned the key but did not start it 50psi. Started truck fuel pressure was 61psi and steady. I checked fuses, relays. I changed all the spark plugs and wires and made sure correct gap in the plugs. Still have to use a little starter fluid to get truck to start. I thought it may have been bad gas but truck runs fine when started. No bucking, stalling out or dying. No ticking coming from the engine
Past year I replaced battery, alternator, starter
I am confused. I have compression, spark, fuel.
Put my scanner on also and no codes pop up
Any ideas. Your help is great appreciated.
