I’m from Maui, Hawai'i, and I was in an accident exactly a year ago. Unfortunately, I’ve been too busy to address the damage until now. I hit a tree and damaged the front end of my 4Runner, causing the airbags to deploy.
So far, I’ve replaced the alternator, belts (except the timing belt, which was replaced about a year before the accident and still looks good), radiator support, and radiator (though the hoses aren’t hooked up yet). I also have a new AC condenser but haven’t installed it yet. Additionally, I changed the spark plugs and wires, and installed a new battery. I’ve checked all the fuses, and they seem fine.
I checked the spark plugs if they are getting sparks and yes, they are. I tried using starting fluid but no luck. So even if the fuel injectors are bad the starting fluid should have started it. I did check the fuel line and its going all the way to the engine.
Scotty or anyone else, do you have any ideas on what could be the issue? I could really use some help.
Mahalo!
If you have spark and the engine won't fire with starting fluid that suggests some kind of internal engine problem or the spark timing is way off. (That thing is nearly 30 years old. You didn't mention mileage.) See the troubleshooting section of the FAQ and see if any of the information there helps.
