Recommended brake rotors for 2020 tundra 4x4. Gonna get the pads you use. Pull 3000 lbs about once a week. Didn't know if the drilled and slotted ones were worth it or not. Not any problems with stock. Just thought i might upgrade while i was at it.
stick to OEM
No. They've been resurfaced once. Probably won't need brakes till the spring. Just wondering if there was anything better than oem that would make sense. Don't mind spending a few more dollars if its worth it. I drive the truck daily.
When you say you will need brakes, do you mean pads?
You could go with Akebono pads, they even make a tougher one for trucks that would likely do well. They are the manufacturers of the OEM pads. I used the beefed up version in my GX470 and been very happy with them. I have yet to warp a rotor, and good stopping power.
My advice with drilled or slotted rotors, don't drink the kool aid. They are not going to help with towing, and will likely fail much sooner than OEM. Make use of trailer brakes, and don't use overdrive when towing. On steep descents, when braking either you can gear down, or your transmission will do it automatically when it senses your speed increasing when brakes are applied, and you are not slowing down. That will help reduce the need for laying on your brakes like crazy. Look at your manual for more details.
A 3k pound trailer is not going to push your brakes to the limit, trust me. I used trailers without trailer brakes and did just fine.
Our of curiosity, are your rotors warped already?
I used to tow that much regularly with my GX470 and never had any trouble. Even when a bearing went bad in the front, and cause a bit of wear on the front rotor, my good local shop said it was best just to turn it a little, and it will be fine. It was, I never had any issues even then.
