[Solved] Two cars with problems, going on road trip

Hello, I currently have a 2010 f150 with 167k miles with the 4.6l engine and a 2007 Acura MDX with 160k miles. I am pulling a lightweight teardrop camper all the way to Yellowstone and I was wondering which issue is more serious. My Acura has a winding or spooling noise when making turns, which might have to do with the belt or power steering somehow. My f150 was in the shop recently and they wanted 3900 for a timing chain and fuel pump replacement. It does indeed have a slight ticking noise that goes away in around a minute in a cold start. The Acura seems like the right choice, but I want to believe the f150 is okay for the trip.

Have your MDX inspected by your independent mechanic, fix the noise & service the vehicle, then take it on your trip.

I wouldn’t want a timing chain to go out, in the middle of nowhere, on vacation, with the family in tow..

Trucks are more suited to towing

Fuel pumps aren't something you really change unless they go bad. Unless it is having trouble priming, why change it?
The timing chain is needing servicing on that truck because the oil wasn't changed enough. You don't want it to fail on you, so I would replace the timing belt and take the truck. I wouldn't tow that many miles with an Acura SUV.

Whichever one you take, FIX IT! You’re going to be traveling many miles in the middle of nowhere on such a trek. You don’t want either one failing out there and stranding you.
