Hi Scotty,
I'm thinking of buying a used 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee overland edition with the diesel engine with ~105000 miles on it.
Here's what the seller posted in his ad:
"Hard to come by Diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland addition. Awesome for towing and saving on fuel. Fully controllable air suspension. Upgraded K&N cold air intake. Oil/filter recently changed. Some minor cosmetic damage (small dent on hood) and needs new exhaust filter. Currently in limp mode and could use a new battery. Moving, need to sell asap. Clean title in hand. "
Is the diesel exhaust filter a major problem on these? Should I avoid these like the plague? If not, what would be a fair offer?
Thanks!
Do not, under any circumstances, buy this car. If you want a Grand Cherokee, get the 5.7 hemi. But do not get the diesel, especially if it has existing problems. You would be looking at very expensive repairs now, and probably frequently thereafter.
Take a look in the search bar above for previous discussions on the “Ecodiesel”.
Thanks for the advice!!!

That would be a huge mistake. Scotty has pointed out many times that the Italian diesels in those are unreliable junk.
