I’m never buying Harley Davidson products ever again!

Hey Scotty what does a customer do about planned obsolescence? My son has a 2017 Harley V-Rod that has been a lawn ordiment for over a year now while he has still been making payments. The throttle body needs to be replaced according to the dealer. The problem is Harley hid the problem behind Covid supply chain problems and promised the part would be in in 3 months dangling a carrot of hope. Now they say the part will not be renewed. So what do you he should do with this motorcycle other than never buying Harley Davidson ever again? Over 25k is now worthless?

Thanks for the help!

Hi all i forgot to mention that it happened during the extended warranty period and has been at the dealer for the entire year. Yes, was covered under warrenty, no storage fees luckily. Dealer is hesitant to use eBay or junkyard parts.

One of these? Though it's often frustrating,  if all else fails, Ebay.

Go online and find motorcycle salvage yards.  How about this -

I love the R1200RT but the maintenance costs are way too high for me.  Honda solved the blue exhaust pipe problem over 40 years ago by going to double wall pipe.

I was throwing around buying a motorcycle this year, and if that's how H.D. builds their bikes and treats their customers that's good to know.

H.D.s are permanently removed from my list.

Consider a nice FJR1300. You can drive it to San Francisco and back on the weekend and never have to worry about parts falling off like Harleys. @autodiy

Hmm, that is a nice bike. Not bad...

Unfortunately, the down the toilet history of Harley Davidson began in Feb 1981 when they were taken over by AMF.  It hasn't changed. The internet is replete with horror stories about their failure to honor their warranties and over extremely poor quality bikes.

Take it to a Harley Specialist. Even I can't work on those things due to wiring issues.

Get a BMW. the only thing that goes bad is the exhaust pipes turn blue.

Or a Gold Wing, last forever.
