Hello sir, Buying a used 2009 3.5 ltr V6 Honda accord Auto with VCM technology here in India. The car has around 40k Kilometres on the odo.
It is a first owner car and maintained properly. But I have read on the internet that the engines with VCM has problems of oil consumption, fouled sparkplugs etc. Please share your views on this. Is this the problem with the American models only or it sprouted all over the world?
Please help.
You may want to "steer clear" of that one.

Thanks for the reply..
That was also near the beginning of that generation Accord (starting with model year 2008) where that technology was introduced, so there would be a higher propensity of issues with the VCM. One way around it is to buy a Honda Accord coupe with the manual transmission which the V6 engine in those did not come with VCM. Also, if you still end up buying the Accord with VCM (I recommend against it) make sure the previous owner changed the engine oil religiously every 3,000-5,000 miles (as that VCM system needs clean oil to function properly), and there are also options now via the aftermarket to disable VCM (and mitigate future issues).
Thanks for replying.
The car I am considering has done only 10k miles. Will be putting a muzzler as soon as I get the vehicle. The car has been serviced according to the manufacturer recommendations. The odo reading is genuine coz I checked the service history. {black}:face:
