I've got an 05 Lexus RX 330, 146 k miles. My mechanic at my last oil change noticed a minor valve cover gasket seep in my engine. He said its not a great concern now, but I want to prevent the seep from getting worse. Are there any products that can be used to fix seaps without rebuilding the engine? A product that I can pour into the engine along with the engine oil? Thanks for helping me avoid a costly engine repair in the future.
The gasket itself is cheap. Difficulty and expense of the job depends on how much stuff is in the way that needs to be removed to take the valve cover off.
There is no product you can add to the oil that will stop a gasket from leaking. The only way is a new gasket. (The AT-205 product that you may have seen mentioned by Scotty and on this forum is for revitalizing rubber seals and bushings, not gaskets.)
You can easily replace the gasket yourself. The part is cheap too.
