Van won't turn over

I changed the air filter in my 2002 Pontiac montana and now the motor won't turn over. I unplugged the mass air flow sensor when I changed it but I plugged it back in and now won't turn over. I checked every fuse they are all good. I have dash lights when I turn the ignition to on but won't turn over in start position.

Check the oil level. If you don't have any oil in your engine, then your engine might end up being seized and you going have to either junk the car or replace the motor.

There's oil to full mark on dipstick.

You may have a dead spot in your starter, or the relay stopped working, or the engine somehow locked up.

I would first beat on your starter with a rubber mallet to get it past the dead spot. If that does not work. Confirm that you are getting 12v to the starter relay and out of the relay to the motor when the key is being turned. If the motor and relay check out, try turning the engine over by hand (use a wench on the main crank pully bolt). If you can't turn the engine, check the cylinders for water by removing the spark plugs. If the engine still can't be turned with the sparkplugs out, then it is seized.

Most likely your starter or relay went bad. They can sometimes go out suddenly.

I shorted out the starter with a screwdriver and it turned over. I changed the relay and still doesn't turn over with ignition.

The next thing I would do is check your ignition switch inside your steering column. Since it sounds like you are not getting 12volts to the starter relay.

Ok Thanks

But why would this happen right after I changed the air filter. I went to the store and got a air filter as soon as I got home I turned the van off changed the air filter then tried starting it and it wouldn't turn over. I read it might have something to do with the maf sensor.

I also read I may have to reset the computer. How do I do that.

Clearly, your ignition switch took a big dump.
