I have a 2011 Toyota Venza FWD 2.7L, 6 speed automatic transmission with 163,000 miles and it feels like the transmission is slipping between 1500-2000 rpm’s around 45-50 mph. Sometimes I feel it at other times. I do have the BlueDriver OBD scanner, and it doesn’t show any codes. What can I do now, wait until it throws a code or add a transmission additive?
Background:
Purchased in 2017 with 72,000 miles
80,000 miles Transmission serviced at Toyota dealership, then in the colder months the wife said it had to warm up sometimes for it to move in first or reverse gear then it went away or she stopped telling me, maybe I’m guilty of not listening to her. L
150,000 miles I leveled the transmission, removed pan and only had 28 ozs. of fluid, I added 3 qts to proper operating temperature. MOC ok, worked great.
Thanks in advance
The BlueDriver may not be able to read transmission codes. That usually takes a professional-grade scan tool.
Your transmission is probably toast, especially if it was run for a while on low fluid. Any additive will be a temporary bandaid and may not work at all. Scotty has talked about using Lucas transmission additive. Nothing to lose by trying it, but be prepared for the possibility that the transmission may fail in the near future.
