I have a 2008 Toyota Highlander 2wd with 94,000 miles. I recently drove home from Virginia to Ohio and ran through some light snow. A day after that trip I started getting intermittent Brake Malfunction, Check VSC system and Check ABS messages come on any go out at the same time. Could road salt have gotten on a sensor somewhere or is there anything I could check on it?
thanks
Dave
More than likely snow or dirt is wedged into the ABS gear sensor teeth and causing a no read fault....Just have to probably take the wheel off or maybe you can clean the ABS gear from underneath.
I don't think salt would trip the sensor because the sensor is magnetic. Normally when you drive fast, like on the highway, junk gets ejected from there, but maybe something got stuck. Rust buildup can cause issues, or it might be ferrous debris from the road.
