Good evening everyone hope all is well. Couldn't think on how else to title this subject but 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo with the V6 cheers to over 213,600 miles. Did the water pump fail? I was driving back home from food lion no aggressive driving so as im halfway home the dash dings I look down and it says Engine Coolant Temperature Overheating. I look and yyep the temp gauge is almost max at H and here came a steam from under the hood like so bad it was like as if it caught on fire. Parked it on the side of the road to let it cool. I got it back home but the temp gauge rose again so I parked it fast on the side of the road at home. Let it cool I then open the hood the coolant reservoir tank is full so I pour coolant into the radiator only to hear coolant escaping somewhere and it leaks from the engine to under the vehicle to where the transmission pan cover is.
it leaks from the engine to under the vehicle to where the transmission pan cover is.
When it's cooled off.. leave it in park, hand brake engaged, crank it up and look. In the area you described last (around the transmission pan), it could be a transmission cooling line instead of the water pump. You won't know until you look closer and see where the leak originates
@hixster turns out indeed it was the water pump after a test. It lasted a decent amount of miles considering it was never changed.
Check the hoses (radiator, heater, etc.) You should have pressure tested it back in December like Justin told ya.
@imperator turns out indeed it was the water pump after a test. It lasted a pretty decent amount of miles surprisingly considering its never been changed.
