What if you use mineral oil for my 94 nissan skyline GT with a new clutch system Do you have to completely drain it? or can this be a fix for the lack of old mineral oil?
You have now contaminated your hydraulic system. It needs to be drained, flushed , refilled with the correct fluid and properly bled of air.
Only use the recommended fluid which unless that car is very unusual is going to be either DOT3 or DOT4, anything else can damage seals. On many cars the fluid is shared between clutch and brakes. If yours is like that and you've added mineral oil it would be best to flush out clutch and brakes with fresh fluid.
mine has a seperate clutch/master line with no specified fluid anywhere to be found out of japan.
I don't recall seeing a car that used anything but brake fluid in a hydraulic clutch but am not familiar with yours. Seals are basically the same as in brakes and would likely be damaged by anything else unless you know for certain it's supposed to be in there.
all i know for sure is don't combine, and would have to spray it dry with a compressor and spend money to fill it up with mineral oil.
they also say dot 3 or 4 will destroy the seals on mineral applications.
Who, exactly is "they?"
Mineral oil? That's a first for me. I DOT4 everything that uses brake fluid.
I didnt add any yet, and was in hope the some in the master could work magic.
Plus, there is no fluid manual for the clutch line on this car nor is there a available diagram for the master.
I just know how i got it, a short clutch pedal with no dead space from the old days. With a Nismo slave, it makes it work on a long throw that doesnt work for a stock slave at all.
There should be text imprinted on the cap or somewhere under the hood.
As @Chucktobias said, DOT3/4.
Only the brake system has it on the cap. Not the clutch master.
