What would you recommend I do to keep both vehicles running as long as possible?

I have a 98 Honda Accord EX with a 2.3L VTEC with an engine code saying EGR valve lift insufficient. It's my daily and I've been doing 3-4000 mile oil changes (it burns oil pretty bad if it revs too high). It just hit 200k and the automatic transmission is feeling a little clunky. I also just got a 90 dodge Dakota 3.9L with 167k on it that sat for about 5 years. I got it going with a new coil but also replaced the plugs and wires as well as the cap and rotor and air filter. Just wondering what would be best to do with my cars to keep them chuggin along for years to come.

I have a 1999 Accord with 280K miles. It’s my daily driver. Had it since new. Most of the mileage, about 200K miles was accumulated within the first 10 years of service.

I basically just do basic maintenance on the schedule in the owners manual. Oil, transmission fluid, brakes, brake fluid, coolant, power steering, sparks.

The biggest expenses were the clutch job and the timing belt. Little things came up here and there, but nothing too crazy that wasn’t too crazy expensive. And some age related things have popped up. But so far so good.
