Hi Scotty, I love your car videos on YouTube thank you for the knowledge you pass on. I'm interested in buying a RAV 4. I live in NYC and I want to know what is the best milage to get them and what are the major issues and concerns I should have with the car when I'm buying one. Also should I go out of state to buy the car or is it ok to buy in NYC? I've never owned a car but I think I'm ready for one now {black}:laughingoutloud:

Hope this helps. Also, if those RAV4s have the 2AZ-FE 2.4L 4 cylinder, I would avoid because they were plagued by oil consumption.

Thank you Matthew.

I would get the newest year with the lowest miles you can find and the V6 engine.  They are little rockets with 270HP

I think these are pretty bulletproof

Get the newest one within your budget. I would consider 4 cylinder ones years of 2010-2012.

I would look at the V6 models from 07-09, since those were more reliable than the 4 cylinder models that had oil consumption issues, they are faster and you don't really see many of them. For 4 cylinder models, consider 2010-2012. 05-06 is also not bad too.

Regarding the V6 models, as a result of their design as well as having more moving parts, they get more expensive in repairs when you put mileage on them.
