I have a 2014 Buick encore that has been nothing but problems but most recently, after going to a repair shop three times, the car now has a rough idle and when I am stopped the idle dips several thousand RPMs. The first time we brought the car in was to address a coolant smell and they replaced the fan speed component on the radiator. That didn't solve the coolant smell and he found a leak in the water pump and replace that along with the PCV hose. Shortly have to get in the car back the check engine light came on with the p1101 code.
You spend some time with the car and ultimately replace an oxygen sensor. He said he drove the car 150 miles over the 2 weeks we let him have it what we had a loaner And there was no issue with the car. Two days after we got the car back we noticed that at idle the RPMs would drop and the engine would run rough. When we go in reverse the engine runs rough as well.
I'm not comfortable taking the car back to him because I already put nearly $1,700 into a car that's not worth more than six thousand. There's also a noticeable clunk when going over bumps but he doesn't hear it and did not find any loose areas in the suspension. We just replaced a struts and that didn't solve the problem.
Any idea what could be causing the rough idling? I did put in a new mass air flow sensor but that didn't solve the problem.
Well one he didn't fix it. I demand my money back. Generally. Something like that is either some type of vacuum leak that makes the air fuel ratio wrong when you're going at low RPMs or a problem in the fuel injection system. Not metering correctly at low speeds. Try to find a mechanical knows what he's doing. Your guys are clown
