When I put the pedal to the floor it just high revs but it barely goes. But when I just use the pedal normally I can get up to speed just fine I went up to 90 mph just fine. I just can't floor it😫. The used car dealer I got it from had said it had a missfire and put in newer coils but I didn't check if spark plugs or coils are correct. My code reader shows 3 codes, p1147, p0420 and p0430. I had a regular battery test but not a load test done. Couldn't see CCA so guessed at 650 and it was good. I have no maintenance records as they did not have any. So with all that said, where do I start? Lol. Has 213xxx miles. 2008 BMW 335i automatic

Your transmission may be going out on you. (If it's been driven that way for the last 14 or 15 years the trans is almost certainly shot!) Does it have enough fluid? Is the fluid burnt or gritty?

A generic OBD2 code reader won't read transmission codes. You need a professional-grade scan tool for that.

Thank you for the reply! I haven't checked the level nor the condition of the fluid as it sits too low to get under. I have ramps but im sure it needs to be level to check/fill. I'd take it to bmw but im sure that will be very expensive. Other than transmission, would anything else do this like vacuum leaks or spark issues? I haven't checked fuses yet. Also when I try to check oil level it loads then disappears, it won't give me a level reading. I drove it about 15 miles before checking and sat parked with engine on.

Do not take that car to a BMW dealer unless you want your wallet and your bank account depleted very quickly. Maybe find an independent mechanic experienced with European cars. (Still $$$ but usually not as bad as dealer.)

If the engine is revving up and not misfiring or anything it almost has to be the transmission causing this problem. (Flooring the loud pedal puts the trans under a lot more strain than taking off at part throttle.) I guess you could try recording live data with a scan tool while doing that and check it for anything suspicious. Even most cheap scan tools can do that these days.

From what you're saying that car has no transmission dipstick? Wonderful. I'd say it's worth putting the stupid thing up on jackstands to check the fluid and get an idea of what you're dealing with.

Your dealer screwed you over big time on this vehicle.  Your catalytic converters are shot and that part about the coils and spark plugs was a fairy tale.  Get it scanned by a real, independent mechanic, then stand back and hold on to your wallet.  This is going to be painful.

Not to mention the transmission is probably toast. The car is old enough it may have been on a BHPH lot. Wish we had better news but it's looking pretty grim.

@chucktobias, unfortunately, right you are.

Yeah today it made some horrid sounds from the rear end.. I guess I'll do what I can to it and ride til it dies sadly. But if anything I'll keep this updated with what's wrong with it and fixes for future similar questions.
