WHERE to LOOK for a decent used car?

i tried the sleazy dealerships first hand, and just watched scotty's video on why NOT to use $$$ dealerships - i agree 100% - apart from facebook marketplace, these days i don't know where else to look! FB marketplace has a bunch of scams and shady individuals.  I googled 'used car by owner' and all i get is a bunch of sites that compile different listings from used car dealerships! My mom pointed out we'd look in the pennysaver paper back in the days when we still had physical papers - where else can i look?!? thanks.

Retirement communities. In FL we have a bunch. These old guys keep their vehicles maintained well if for no other reason than to have something to do on a Tuesday morning every 3 months.

And either the guy dies and his widow sells the car or the guy gets too old to keep his car and he sells it and buys a golf cart to tool around the retirement community.

brilliant. They probably have bulletin boards in their central area.

shady individuals are everywhere though, so you always need your wits about you, and always have the vehicle inspected by a mechanic first.

unfortunately seems like 'carsoup' and 'iseecars' are doing just that though - listing used cars from various dealerships websites though , rather than by private owners. 🙁 🙁

most of my cars came from dealers, and I think I did pretty well.
