Hi everyone,
I have leftover engine oil, transmission fluid and coolant. How long can I store it before throwing them away?
Thanks in Advance!

a very very long time. Just make sure you shake before use.
Like Scotty says, it was in the ground for millions of years before you brought it home.
Brake fluid is a different story because it reacts with moisture.
Thanks! So if I do brake work at home, I can't keep that fluid for next time.
You can, if you seal the container well, after use. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. If next time is 2-3yrs later, yeah, I wouldn’t use fluid in an already opened container for that.
Isn’t Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) hygroscopic as well? I would not store opened ATF if that’s the case.
transmissions get hot enough to vaporize water
I might throw away the half quarts bottle or use it to flush a bit next time around.
Thanks for the information!
Please don’t flush your engine oil & ATF, unless it was your very last resort.
true. $3 worth of ATF is not worth pinching for.
