I want something fun to drive that I can beat up on the weekend and still daily drive to work. Which would be a more fun car? The Mazda 3 or the Mazda 6? Both would be a manual transmission

Mazda 6 has more zoom zoom. A bit bigger, a bit more powerful, a bit more comfortable and potentially more tech. However, if you get one the thing is the early ones were bad (mazda used to have a deal with ford) and the 2018-2021 have the cylinder deactivation engines for most mazda vehicles if not all, which is awful for reliability. 2017 is the best year for a mazda 6. 2015-2016 would be okay, but 2017 had a interior upgrade (and 2018+ is a no-no due to cylinder deactivation). As for mazda 3, I don't have as much detailed information but it's essentially the same, get it recent enough so that it's good but not too new so it has the cylinder deactivation (2018).

Now that brings a problem where if you want a mazda you'd have to pay a significant amount of money since the good ones are quite recent. A cheaper option would be to look for a older honda civic (2006-2011 are so much fun, especially with manual) and it's brother the accord. Yes it's cliché another civic blah blah, but don't knock it until you try it.

Final note between the mazda 3 and mazda 6 your best bet would be to test drive them both, you might like the handling of a smaller car better, or the comfort of the bigger one, you'll only know once you try them.

Uncategorized information: Mazda 3 have small leg rooms for the back seats, you do get cramped up in these.

Either of them, if a professional mechanic checks them out thoroughly, before purchase.

An even more fun car, would be the Miata with a manual..

Imagine driving it daily, going 70mph on the highway next to a semi-haul 50 tons truck, I wonder how that feels. But yeah definitively one of the most fun options out there.

Hahah well the 3 won’t be much different..

Well I've heard you really feel small in a miata, but again I feel small in my little civic next to pickup trucks and SUVs.

Even a Camry will feel ‘small’, next to a full sized truck/suv! Isn’t that one of the reasons why people like the big rigs?

The race to see higher than everyone else but at some point everyone have SUVs so it's now just to be able to see something ahead of the car in front I mean think about it. Americans think bigger is better and Canadians have to follow the US market. Also people who decide about emissions test don't know much about cars, consequence is the smaller cars are almost impossible to pass, while the bigger cars are less strict. Result: Everybody is driving uneccessarily bigger cars with inevitably more fuel consumption. Yay for the environment. Also I've heard some states want to ban gasoline cars and only sell electric cars by 2035 or something? Seems pretty dumb to me considering electric cars are not proven to be better yet, as of right now it's way too close to gasoline pollution in total. They should at least let the market free so that electric cars are naturally "chosen" over gasoline ones instead of forcing it.
*I don't live there so I surely don't have every information right here.

Mazda 6, but there are a lot of other drivers cars out there I'd go for first. Miatas are a blast and the Civic Si is also fun and will last forever.

Both are similar and you know by now the Mazda 3 is a segment smaller than the 6 and legroom can get tight go check them out at a dealer see which one fits you best.
