Assuming same mechanical condition, which one would be better for a first car to look into. They both seem to go around $4000-$5000 (a lot less or a little more depending on other factors)
early-mid 2000s Toyota Avalon V6 or early-mid 2000s Toyota Camry V6
Which one is better to drive? Which one would you prefer? Should I be even looking at 15-20 year old Toyotas?
As for mileage, I see them from 100k-300k miles so we have the whole spectrum.
It's basically just up to your preference. They are very similar with the Avalon being slightly more roomy inside.
They are basically the same car with different body styles. the Avalons are bigger (especially in early 2000 model years) compared to Camry.
If they are checked out ok by your mechanic, pick one that you like driving it better.
thanks.
I know neither are really "sporty" but would you say the Camry is better to drive than the Avalon, which is more luxurious?
The Avalon is more luxurious, but also a bit more expensive to maintain. The 04-06 Camrys have a good rep, eso when compared with the 07-09.
Try them out for yourself they both are excellent cars.
OR, if you can find one your mechanic likes, a Lexus ES350 (an Avalon, made even more comfortable)
The avalon from 2005 is already as old as me and it is redesigned for that year. It is really nice because it has 270hp engine, push button start, smart key access, and is safer than those small looking camry's from 04-06 would be because it has a longer wheelbase and a bigger body. 2005 avalon is my recommended choice by far.
