I have a 2007 Lexus ES350 95k. Today for the first time, While accelerating and increasing rpm I get a very distinct and unusual whining noise (from Front driver side ) that seems to correlate with RPM in various gears. it seems to be a little worse when my steering wheel is turned to the left, however it happens also when driving straight. (Intermittently) 1500 miles ago I had that transmission fluid flush and filter changed. currently I have 95,000 miles on this vehicle.
any idea what this could be?
Can you please make a YouTube video & post the link here?
Got a tranny from a 2009 es350 with 65k on it for the “low” price of $2000 and $400 for labor. (A friend of a family have a tranny shop )
All the best.
Could be wheel bearing, could be the tranny noises are hard to diagnose in online forums. What sounds like a whining noise to you could be a grinding noise to someone else.
It’s like an exaggerated whine similar to a whistle when accelerating. I also read it could be the wheel bearing. And I hope to god it is.
It could be the trans. I had a customer bring in a car for pre-purchased inspection that I noticed had a trans noise between 40-50mph in 4th gear and if you stayed at that speed you could hear a consistent whistle. What I did to make sure it was coming from the trans is hook up my handy steelman to pin point the noise. If you want to eliminate a wheel bearing noise jack up the front wheels place one hand on the strut spring and spin the wheel if the bearing is bad you will feel a vibration in the spring.
The car was an 09 Highlander I think it has the same trans.
Probably going to be around $5000 for a rebuilt from a transmission shop. I would consider doing it at a price close to this if you can get a three year warranty and your car is in otherwise very good condition. Only 95000 miles, you should be able to get another 200000 miles out of her with good maintenance.
Yea ended up going the used rout $2000 plus 400 labor. Car otherwise in great condition. Just did the water pump, a new throttle body , (common issue ) regular oil changes, new spark plugs an denzo ignition coil’s
UPDATE!!! 3/1/21 It turns out to be the transmission (she gone ) . only 95,000 miles on my car. Found metal flakes and black transmission fluid. About 7000 miles ago maybe that made it worst ) I believe it was the first flush and fill. How much would be a reasonable price to get it fixed? Is it worth it ? Thoughts
Damn, another transmission ruined by a flush.. Price around at various tranny specialists, but you may find it’s more than what the car is worth. I’d get rid of it, as-is.
I would consider buying a transmission from a junkyard. The transmission repair on that car cost more than what the car worth and it is difficult to find someone who can do a fine job,
I would say the lack of service killed the transmission. Not the flush.
