My car shakes a lot while idle. It gets worse when I put it in drive. Also, turning on AC or turning steering wheel makes it shake worse. I can see the hood shaking a lot so definitely coming from there. There is also a rattle noise like the vibration is causing something to smack something else. have changed spark plugs and boots. Mounts are getting replaced as well but im afraid that may not fix it (3 out of 4 were broken). Will that fix the shake? What if it doesn't? What else could it be?
2011 Toyota camry with 94k miles. Auto transmission. No codes.
It sounds like a broken motor mount to me. As long as the engine isn't misfiring then the mounts you are talking about should fix it up.
Your car feels cold and it’s shaking.
Engine mount.
Seems like worn motor mounts. Pop the hood and have someone start the car while you look at the engine. If it shakes a lot when it is started than it is probably the motor mounts. As for the AC it uses a compressor which also shakes slightly when on so that would add to it. If the 3 out of 4 broken mounts you are talking about are the motor mounts then yes that will definitely fix your issue.
Thanks guys! I appreciate your time.
