Why is my car going into limp mode when it gets cold outside????

I have a 2007 Ford Freestyle SEL, 119k miles, and when it drops below freezing outside, when I start the car it’ll immediately go into limp mode. Sometimes if you let it warm up for a good 15min you can restart the engine and it’ll start up just fine, but sometimes it just doesn’t. It trips a code p0701, something about tranny control system sensors or something. 
I’ve spent $1000 at mechanics just to diagnose it and they still can’t figure it out.
Any idea what the heck is going on????

As you mentioned, the code is relate to the TCM. Take the car to a transmission shop who works in these transmissions and have them check it for a diagnosis. In the meantime, check out this link:
