Window trouble

Jack62, I'm having a problem with my driver's door window where the window will go all the way down the first time I use it after the car has been sitting for a long while. However after going all the way down, it struggles to go up OR DOWN. It'll go up 2 to 4 inches sometimes, sometimes a half inch. And will only go down by similar distances.
To close that window I have to, while parked, turn the key to the on position and push the up button. It'll do it's half inch and then I turn the key off and remove it. Wait 60 seconds. Repeat.
After about ten minutes I can get the window all the way up.
Does that sound like the motor/regulator assembly?

It sounds like the thermal limit switch in the motor is getting triggered and you have to wait for it to cool down each time you operate the motor, and then it trips again.... and again....
.
So either a motor that's wearing out or there's some sort of problem in moving the window that's causing the motor to work too hard (off track or worn part causing the window to not move easily)
.
You'll have to remove the inside door panel to replace the motor so just examine the regulator and be sure the window moves up and down easily without resistance
.
If it does then it's likely time to replace the motor

I was wondering if there was something in there that was getting too hot to run and then tripped. Pretty sure it's the motor. To be safe, I think I'll replace the motor and the regulator.

I would replace the motor to be safe.
