Windshield wipers stopped working

Hi so my 2004 Honda Accord LX windshield wipers stopped working out of nowhere and I noticed when I had my dad turn them on I heard a clicking sound when I put my ear under the hood next to the wipers but now I don't hear the clicking anymore but they still aren't working. Now is there any videos on how I can check if it's the motor or maybe a fuse or maybe something is stuck in there?

That looks like you have the wiper switch on one of the intermittent settings.

But you're probably experiencing something similar when you have the wipers on Low or High speed.

You turn them off, and they stop somewhere in the middle of the windshield.

They aren't "parking" in the down position.

There's "park contacts" inside the wiper motor. They only allow the wiper motor to stop in the down (park) position.

It looks like they're either dirty/broken/defective.

There are two relays, the run/park and the hi/lo.  They are located under the hood on the left side (driver's) in the battery junction box above the fuses.

Ok I will try to locate it. I hope I can find it cause of not I will have to spend a couple hundred just to get it checked.

You can do it.

Check out this video for diagnosis:

For the motor, you can buy from here:

You never said anything about your "mechanic" checking the switch.  Did he or not?  Did he try to direct hot wire the wiper motor to eliminate it as a possibility?  Does your "mechanic" know anything about electricity or switching logic, at all?

Dang I apologize. It's not a bolt. I meant the nut for after you put the wipers on I need those nuts and the black plastic thing to put on top.

All the parts are listed on the page yaser linked.

Could be either -

It could also be the switch that controls the wiper, but the relay is cheap and easy to replace (or check with a multimeter), so I would check and/or replace that first.

Before buying a new motor, you should try putting 12 volts directly to the wiper motor to see if it works.  If it does, you have a problem with the switch or the relay.  Also, check to see if you are getting voltage to the connector at the motor with the wiper switch on.

Okay cool thanks I was actually told this from the YouTube mechanic to try to see if I get anything from the motor. I'll be so busy with work I don't really have time to take all this apart but I'm going to have to try to find time so hopefully it's nothing too serious thank you

It should be fairly easy to see if there is continuity in a ground circuit with an ohm meter.  Check all grounded connections for corrosion or bad connections.

I hope someone can help me, since the AutoZone by my house suck. I have a 2004 Honda Accord LX 2.4 liter. So I had to change my wiper motor but I can't seem to find the wash and bolt size to screw back on my wipers . AutoZone said they won't be able to find the size in the system so I would need the exact bolt but I misplaced them. So I need 2 bolts and I think a washer I'm not sure a washer is needed. But does anyone know what size I would need? I just don't want to buy some and it doesn't fit then have to go back and keep trying different sizes. I'm not sure if a picture would have helped.

Was told it's the washer relay, is that correct?

They work at all speeds. But they just work for like 30 seconds then it starts stalling like that. I just hope it doesn't rain heavy cause I have drive to work. And I work 2 jobs so Im trying to find time to get them done asap.

Hi someone on YouTube told me to find the relay the wiper relay in the motor and then turn the wipers on and then tap on relay and it the wipers go on Everytime I hit the relay then it's more then likely my relay is bad. But I have no idea where the wiper relay in my motor is located. It's a 2004 Honda Accord LX 2.4 cylinder.

Honda Accord LX 2004 4 cylinder...

So in the video this is what my wipers were doing. But now they have completely stopped and they stopped in the up upward position and they do not move and no matter what I can't get them down. So I was just wondering do you think I should replace the motor? I was told it could be the switch or the relay but now that it has completely stopped moving and it's just stuck I'm assuming it's the motor. And if I was to get a motor is there a specific kind like should I go to an AutoZone or should I buy it online and get a more expensive one?

I don't know why the video didn't post on here.

So I just had someone change my wiper motor and my windshield wipers still don't work I tried to turn them on and they moved maybe five or six inches and then went right back down and don't move anymore. He said he needed to change the linkage brushings but when I pick them up the guy at the store said they weren't the right size but I bought them anyway and he was able I guess to put them in and I tried the wipers and they didn't work. Do you think the different size brushings made the wipers still not work? Also I called my real mechanic but he's out of town I just needed to talk to him and he said if the transmission is in hooked up right it will do that where they won't work I'm not sure what that means cuz he was busy I couldn't talk long if someone could help me what that means about the transmission and where I could possibly find it. Thanks

2004 Honda Accord LX 4 cylinder.....

So I had my mechanic change out the wiper relay and the fuses but my wipers still don't work. He said it wasn't letting him get any ground when he was using the fuse tester. It wasn't letting him get any ground on certain parts of the wires that you put into the motor if you get what I mean. So I was just wondering what else could it possibly be? He's a great mechanic but I know some others probably know different tricks so I like to get multiple opinions. And it is a new motor. Could the motor be defective? There is also a small hole on the motor but not sure if that's an issue as well.

@frankwhite555 Please keep all your windshield wiper questions under this topic. Do not post a new topic each time. Thanks.

Hi so I found out the motor I bought was bad so I went and got a replacement. This one worked, so I tried it and the links were moving so I thought cool. I put everything back together but the wipers were not moving so I thought maybe the links weren't correct or whatever so I was gonna take it back out to adjust it and something touched something and there was a quick spark. Now my links don't move at all. I do hear the motor clicking every time I go to a different level but the links aren't moving now... What could have happened, did that spark blow a fuse or something more?
