I gave a 2011 Genesis. The wipers will stop working. If I unplug the wiper motor connection under the cowl and replug it back in, then it works. It may take another month before it fails again. I’m almost certain it is not a connection issue. Is the anything with a multifunction switch or BCM that might cause this kind of failure? Washer motor still runs, but no wiper mode does. Thank you.
Update. The wipers stopped working again. I measured all 6 pins at the motor connector with switch selected to off, lo and hi. Then I unplugged and plugged connector back in. Wipers work, so I repeated measurements at the connector. Only difference is the brown wire. Before read 0.4v. After read 0v. Smells like a grounding problem. The only thing I can think of that makes sense is a poor connection on the brown wire within the connector assembly. Anybody have a different hypothesis and what is the best way to sand/dielectric grease, etc. to improve the connection. Thank you.
Update. I took the connector apart (white retaining bracket comes out first, then the pin. It seemed a bit loose when I slipped it over the male pin, so I bent the internal tines. Much tighter fit. Put back together and everything is working. If I don’t post again, then the repair held. Thank you for the suggestion Yaser. It helped me narrow the problem down.
You said that you are sure it i not a connection issue. To double check try this: When it stops working, measure the voltage at the viper connection to see if you have power there. If you have, then the issue is electronic (maybe the BCM).
@yaser
Great idea to divide the universe. I’ll need to be patient the next time this happens. Thank you
It’s gotta be in the arm on the steering wheel.....
