Scotty, I just watched your "How to Remove AC Smells in Your Car (Odor Life Hack)" YouTube video, and I have a question and a suggestion.
Q: I agree with everything you suggest in your video except, if you are pulling fresh air and Lysol from the outside of the car in to the AC system, shouldn't the cabin air filter be removed first? The way you show is simply pulling the Lysol into the the filter and it (the Lysol) becomes nothing more than an odor cover-up, isn't it? In other words, the Lysol never really makes it to the evap coil, does it?
S: Instead of Lysol which has such a strong, long-lasting, perfume-y smell, I suggest using Proctor and Gamble's "Microban" (available thru Amazon). Much less smell which dissipates in mere moments - and is less expensive.
Regards.
Well the Lysol is going to work one way or the other. The main thing is it is a aerosol spray and the chemicals are going to go right through that filter. Of course, if you do have odors and stuff it's better to take the filter. I'll clean the whole thing and then replace the filter anyway. I've never tried the stuff you had but I'll have to give it a try. The only problem I found is stuff that doesn't smell much often doesn't clean that well either. I have tried other ones and they didn't clean very well
