| I have a 2007 Pontiac G6 2.4 I4 with the LE5 engine and it runs and drives very well but it has a code p0420 but the car doesn’t seem to be sluggish, what could it be? The engine clunks at idle when it is cold but only with the AC on when the engine is cold. Are these problems related? 153,000 miles | |||||

| 2005 Honda Pilot Our daily beater car that has been with us for 17 years now has an engine code showing: p0420 (1/1) Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) DTC Severity 2 of 3 fault. The auto parts store guy who used the scan tool said it was the 'bank 1 O2 sensor fault'. Looking it up on-line it looks like a catalytic converter fault. Videos show it can be related to other things and replacing the cat might not be the proper course of action. Can the team here advise on next steps? | |||||

| Hi everyone, I have a 2007 toyota camry with 310 k miles with only the p0420 code. Spark plugs and head gasket replaced very recently, apparently no leaks on the exhaust system. Replacing the Cat converter will fix the code or should I look for something else?, I live in NY, so I need a California compliant one. Thanks | |||||

Should I replace the oxygen sensor or try to clean the fuel injector or try to put fuel additives? or did I damage the CAT? Honda CRV 2007, about 160k miles Best Aibek | |||||

| I had a Honda crv 2010 with mileage just above 100,000. Few days ago engine light was on and autozone told me it is p0420. I did not feel any problem while driving, no low gas usage, no not able to accelerate, etc for typical dead Catalytic converter. I went to Madis and the person told me the catalytic converter was bad. They showed me the the AF sensor signal M is 1.8-1.8 and Af sensor signal P is 2.20-2.20. Basically two flat lines. Is this the indicator of bad CC? Thanks for your help! | |||||

| P0420/30 after replacing cat converters | 14Relevance | 4 years ago | eetf1 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I just got p0420/30 codes after replacing cat converters and O2 sensors on my 2008 Infiniti G35 Journey sedan. Before replacement, NO codes were present. The cats are AP Exhaust direct fit units and O2 sensores Denso and NTK. Someone suggested to give it a try using Cataclean and erasing the codes to see if they pop up again. I'm not sure if this will help because everything is new (except the headers, where carbon may reside or not). Will Cataclean, at least, World not male the issue worse? Any comment will be much appreciated. | |||||

| I have a 2019 Hyundai Tucson with a 2.0L GDI (no turbo) About 6 months ago, after a road trip of about 700 miles, the p0420 code came up, car was at 55k miles. I thought it was a fluke and cleared the code. 6 months and 3000 miles later, the code came back. This time, I did more digging and looked at the data from the vehicle. Catalyst monitor bank 1 running below the minimum value. This value seems to fluctuate and sometimes goes back to the normal range. The car drives smoothly with the engine temp staying in the normal range (around 200 F). No issues ... | |||||
