| Answer to: 2014 Ford Escape Titanium vs 2017 Chevrolet Trax LT | 13Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2017 Chevrolet Trax LT (or) 2014 Ford Escape Titanium: Both genuinely horrid piles of garbage. Much worse than the Forester you previously looked at. Also you're comparing a medium sized SUV and a tiny crossover CUV. Even worse! dealers know how to hide issues with cars. Nope. | |||||

| Hi all my wife and I are looking into two SUVs that are similarly priced (~12-13k). Which would you recommend if any, we've been looking for months and in our vicinity, these are the most "reasonably" priced. 2017 Chevrolet Trax LT: ECOTEC 1.4L I4 SMPI DOHC Turbocharged VVT 100k miles Tires seem cracked, will likely need tires (from pictures we've seen). 2014 Ford Escape Titanium: EcoBoost 2.0L I4 GTDi DOHC Turbocharged VCT 120k miles Both are at the same dealer and we want to get opinions on whether or not it is worth going out to see them. | |||||

| Ford Escape Sluggish acceleration | 13Relevance | 4 years ago | Thescape | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi there! I have 2011 Ford Escape Limited 4WD non Hybrid, 6 Speed Automatic vehicle. It has around 120000 miles on it. And it has this very weird problem that I haven't been able to diagnose yet. When accelerating from a stop, it will struggle to accelerate, but once it hits 2000-2500 RPM, it opens up, gains all the power and accelerates hard. This shows up mostly on the hills, when going up the hill, vehicle doesn't gain any speed when I use more throttle if it's under 2500 RPM. Instead after a lot of throttle, gear drops below, which rises RPMs and the ... | |||||
| Distance to empty on Ford Escape 2014 | 13Relevance | 4 years ago | Benjilafouine | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, I have a tricky question. On my Ford Escape 2014 2.0L AWD turbo, I always fill the tank with octane 91 gasoline and I am always getting a 535 km distance to empty (could be 525, I’ll document next time). With gas prices going through the roof in the beginning of summer, I decided to fill the tank with octane 87 just to try and the distance to empty went down to 469 km (I still had a little bit of octane 91 gas in the tank). This new value puzzled me, considering that I never thought that my car “knew” the octane level in my tank. In fact, I became s ... | |||||
| Answer to: 2013 Ford Escape SE jerk when shifting | 13Relevance | 4 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| What does the transmission fluid look like? Given what you found with the engine oil it's a good bet the transmission fluid has not been changed any time in recent years, if ever. You could try the Lucas stuff but it's a temporary bandaid at best and may not work at all. You are correct that you should not put big money into this thing. If the Lucas additive improves shifting you could consider seeing what a joint like Carvana would give you for it and dumping the Escape on them if you can come close to at least breaking even on the deal. | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have a 2018 Ford Escape se with the 1.5L 90k miles on it. Had the engine light come on and lose a bunch of power and acceleration, couldn’t get over 15mph. Ran the code P0087 (Fuel Rail pressure system failure) took it to my nearest ford dealership. They said it needed new high pressure fuel pump and line. Got it fix paid a lot then a week later on vacation and the same thing happens with the same code. What’s really going on? | |||||

| Anecdotal. I still see a ton of old Escapes and Mazda Tributes on the road. They are basically the same car. Both first Gen and second Gen. If you were talking about the third Gen, I would say no, because they have EcoBoost engines. But the first and second Gen Escape are naturally aspirated. Take care of it and do the maintenance. Just anecdotally, they seem like resilient little vehicles. | |||||

| The Escape is fine. Hopefully it's the bigger 2.0 EcoBoost model. My step dad has a 2013 with pushing 180k miles and he's only had minor issues. I believe those EcoBoost engines have issues with their waste gates and a cheap part needs replaced periodically, at least in the 2013s. It's been a while since he messed with it and I don't remember the part. He replaced it around 120k. He drives drives 100 miles round trip to work and back. The check engine light will come on when it goes bad. He's never serviced the transmission fluid. You should service it eve ... | |||||
