| IF you only still lived in the Houston/Galveston area... As a 'Retired' LEO, you're one of the few people, especially mechanics that I trust. You have literally helped me countless times with your videos, and I Thank You! I have a concern with my 2014 Escape SE 2.0, 6 speed... It is now April 1st, so my Escape is roughly 10 years old with approximately 42,000 miles and I'm the original owner having ordered it from the factory. Any and All required routine maintenance has always been done and overall, I do drive it very conservatively. I did notice my 'con ... | |||||
| Ford escape 2017 small block replacement | 20Relevance | 2 years ago | Matt44 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty, Boy do I wish I had found your channel back in 2017 before I decided to buy a brand new Escape over a new Rav4. At the time it was a bit cheaper and I got a 2017 Ford Escape SE with the 1.5 Ecoboost engine and an automatic transmission. Well here I am today at 82k miles and in need of engine block replacement due to coolant leakage into cylinders 2 and 4. The car starts and then immediately shuts down. I live in the Chicago area and was quoted by one mechanic 8,500 dollars for the job. I called my dealer and they said they would be about t ... | |||||

| I just searched the price for a used 2017 Ford Escape in my area and on places like Carmax they are selling them for $28k range based on mileage. I would suggest that if it's possible for you get rid of it in this market and get a Rav4 instead. Going from memory a base 2022 Rav4 is $26k msrp so if you can find one at msrp then buy it instead of the Escape. If you can wait for an incoming unit instead of buying from on the lot units that is your best chance at buying at msrp. | |||||

| Scotty, During the last two long distant drives in my 2018 Escape it begins to "vibrate" going up "mountains" at speed. I notice it only after driving 300+ miles. The first trip from the "flat lands of Ohio" to Ft, Benning Ga. it seemed that when I took the curves it became much more pronounced. On the downhill side it operated normal. I pulled off for 30 - 60 minutes, check the tires and whatever fluids I could and nothing out of the ordinary was evident. I continued the trip, another 300+ miles and the episode repeated. This occurred over and over unl ... | |||||

| I’ll forget your last comment. I’ve been driving my very same Focus 2003 since 19 years. Bought it new. I know it inside out. I’ve been testing for three months with different levels of octane under all kinds of circumstances (Focus and Escape). I considered weather, humidity, rain, level of gasoline in the tank, etc. It is always possible that I purchased octane 94 gas that was not as advertised (although I only buy from the best outlets). Battery is new BTW from May. I am also checking it from time to time with a trickle charger to see if it’s fully charg ... | |||||

| Answer to: 2008 Ford Escape | 20Relevance | 4 years ago | Kaizen | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The Escape was built in collaboration with Ford and Mazda. The Mazda counterpart is the Tribute. While I much prefer a RAV4 or CRV of that era, IMHO, the collaborative Escape is probably the better of the American SUV makes. I don’t know details of your exact year. I do know someone with the previous generation whose only problem was a leaking coolant reservoir, and needing to change the cat after high mileage. Otherwise it held up pretty well with just basic maintenance. | |||||

And I was very respectful to them. The two issues I have with the car was before I turned car in I had fire Escape stall problem. Very dangerous situations and now this transmission fault sensor. | A naturally aspirated Escape can be okay, but unfortunately your Escape has an EcoBoost engine. EcoBoost engines are known to be problematic and wear out too quickly. That Camry can last you forever. If I were you I would jump on that Camry. | |||||

| My parents are upgrading to a 2018 Lexus RX 350L and I can buy their 2014 Camry with 175K KMS all highway driving that has been in the family since brand new for around the same price. Only problem is I used my Escape to tow a tent trailer. Thinking about switching and driving the Camry for many years to come. What do you think about the long term reliability of the 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.0 Engine and 6-speed auto transmission? | |||||
