| Answer to: Used RAV 4 2009 - 2012 purchase from private owner | 18Relevance | 2 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| You might also try a site like kbb.com (Kelley Blue Book). You can taylor a vehicle that meets the specs of the one you're looking at and get values for private party, dealer, and trade-in value with a range of "fair prices" noted for your specific area. Per Scotty, sites like that tend to inflate values to begin with so if what you're looking at is higher than that it's probably way too much. | |||||

| Unfortunately you overpaid. But I've heard good things about those cars, so just keep up with the maintenance and it'll be worth it over time. Check kbb to get an idea what a cars value is: | |||||
| Answer to: 2008 GMC Sierra worth 18.5K? | 18Relevance | 3 years ago | nta98 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ha... if you trust kbb, this could give you a rough value atleast: but for 18.5K, no way. Stay away from dealerships. That gen of GM trucks was when they really started going downhill too. Id pay half that if it was in great working order. Id keep looking | |||||
| Answer to: Should I buy this 26yo Camry | 18Relevance | 3 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| @avalon04, I really have no idea, though at least in the past, per Scotty, kbb's valuations have been on the high side. Certainly in this case if the seller/flipper is claiming a $5000 kbb value he's lying through his teeth. | |||||

| Answer to: Is it time to buy a new truck? | 26Relevance | 1 year ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... transmission fluid and both the radiator and transmission are contaminated. A different issue involves the pins inside the TCM become loose. Owners have re-soldered the pins or replaced the TCM. You've already spent ~ half of the trucks total value on the transmission repair so i would make sure the shop fixes it. Check kbb to find 'estimates' of your truck's value. | |||||
| Answer to: Should I buy a 15-year-old RAV4 with accidents for $10K? | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Look elsewhere. The asking price is the absolute top retail price to pay for that year make, model and mileage RAV4 without any accident damage according to kbb . | |||||
| Answer to: Should I buy this car? | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| That's crazy high price. kbb puts a retail value for a '13 Mazda3 Speed (ex/con, 32K miles) at $11,500 - $13,500 - they tend to have inflated pricing. | |||||
| Answer to: Keep replacing O2 sensors or rebuild oil-burning engine? | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| It's impossible for anyone to accurately predict just how long the O2 sensors and catalytic converter might last. Even if this car is otherwise mechanically sound and say you can get a rebuilt engine installed for around 3-4K.. The retail value of a '09 Camry LE according to kbb is $6300 - $7600. Just saying.. I wouldn't do it.. and my daily is a '11 Camry and my truck is a '96 Tacoma, both in good cond. If either one requires an expenditure of $3000 they're gone! | |||||
| VIDEO SUGGESTION | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | dr me | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Scotty, Love your videos. I have a suggestion for a video to educate the public on the dirty tricks that car dealers do. I am in the market for a 2024 Rav4 XLE. I obtained a kbb trade-in of 17,983 with a range of 16K to 19K and an Instant Cash Offer of 16414. I am trading a 2018 Buick Lacrosse Essece with 56000 miles in excellent condition. I took the kbb paper to one deler and they offered 11K and told me the kbb was no good. Another dealer offered me 17K but wanted to charge me 999 for docs, 1699 for dealer appearance pkg. Needless to say, I drive a buic ... | |||||

| Should I buy this 2011 Honda Civic? | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | dltngus215 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... for about 50mi/day. I need it to commute to school and all I want is a safe and reliable vehicle. I found 2011 Honda Civic to fit this category. I offered $6,500 to the seller with the kbb value but he said kbb values is inaccurate and he is unwilling to negotiate. Thanks all in advance for your opinion. | |||||

| Answer to: Value of Used Cars for Resale | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Kerem | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Go to craigslist put in vague filters of your car and see what they go for. I know Edmund's values are decently good and not as inflated as kbb private party values. kbb trade in values are also a good starting point. | |||||
| Answer to: 2012 GMC Terrain opinions | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Kerem | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| It was a joke about the original forum rules but alright, Also, $7k is too much. I wouldn't pay $4000. You should look at the kbb trade in value not the private party values those are heavily inflated as kbb is part of the same company which sells cars through Autotrader. I personally would just walk away from the vehicle. | |||||
