| 2003 Mercedes E320 Airmatic issues. | 34Relevance | 4 years ago | Nissanrob88 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2003 Mercedes e320 130,xxx miles. I work on Mercedes and other German cars all the time. When it comes to air matic I have very little knowledge or experience. The issue started 6 months ago I got a visit work shop suspension malfunction. I grab my star laptop to see what's wrong and there is no faults. Fast forward 3 months and it came on again. Same outcome, no faults. After that the malfunction started to appear 5 times a month.Past 2 weeks it's come on every day. But no faults are found. My driver rear doesn't sit at proper height its always a little low. When I raise the car everything works fine except the rear driver. It doesn't go to full height. It's sits a little lower then It should. THERE ARE NO AIR LEAKS. Another thing I noticed past 2 months that's happens more and more air matic keeps purging and now it sounds turboed. I'm not sure if my suspension solenoid valve is bad, my level sensor or both. Sometimes the driver rear works fine What do you guys think is wrong. FYI I never got a red warning. Just the regular suspension visit shop message. With the driver rear being low. It doesn't get low to the point it can't be driven. At most it sit around 1/2 or slightly more. When car is raised it sets around 1/2 to 3/4 Inch low. | |||||

| Best bet is to buy a wheel bearing and hub assembly. OEM is best. Failing that, stick with the leading bearing brands such as SKF or Timken. You should not have to monkey around with the wheel sensors. | |||||

| It was a bearing but not wheel bearing, the driveshaft needed replacing, due to bad bearing there. | |||||

| if you’ve already found the noise and verified that it is a wheel bearing. Some vehicles are bolt on hub and bearing assembly, which make the job easier some require special tools to press out and in the bearing and hub. If it’s a press on and you’re not that mechanically inclined a 4 hour job can turn in to a 2 day adventure. Good luck! | |||||

| I did wheel bearings once, with help, on 2003 Mazda Protege. An experienced mechanic used a 10-ton press, to press the old wheel bearings out of the hubs and then press new wheel bearings into the hubs. It was a pretty big job for someone with my novice skill level and I don’t have the right equipment. Replacing the hub& bearing as noted above is the best advice. Good luck | |||||

| Mercedes e320 2003. 146,000 miles. No check engine light . Car shakes, vibrates in idle and Bogs down when stopping. It happens only is drive for most part. You thought motor mounts are to blame . Lately I noticed in park the rpms slightly move. It bounces around by 25 to 75. When it happens you can feel a very slight misfire. Also I noticed after driving around for awhile it starts to go away. Also when it's warmer outside it's not as bad. Can it be a vacuum leak or a faulty gasket. Is it possible I have a bad fuel injector. There is a tapping noise that co ... | |||||

| Hello I have a 2003 e320. Recently my car started to shake in drive only. Car seems to drive fine, no issues that I can notice. When it first started to happen it would come and go. Few times you can shut car in and off and it would go away. As time went on it got worse. Sometimes it isn't that bad, but most of time it shakes like crazy. It only happens in drive. When in park, neutral, reverse it's fine. Another thing I noticed is when coming to a stop it will start to vibrate right before coming to full stop. You also feel a slight blog when stopping and c ... | |||||
| Squealing wheel bearing | 33Relevance | 1 year ago | AllWheelDrive&SteeringChariots | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty and everyone, I have an 08 Lexus GS350 AWD and it seems it got the case of a very LOUD failing front driver left side wheel bearing since yesterday evening 1/10/25. So that evening on my way to the gas station, I hit a 15mph speed bump on the road which launched the car into the air slightly, the car did came down a bit hard! I drove it to work today-1/11/25 and it seemed to have quieted down at higher speeds of 48mph on the highway but back home, it became increasingly louder when I exited the highway and rode slower on the streets-20mph to 25mph. Some really loud continuous squealing noises, very high pitch and piggy-piggish! Should I replace both the front-left and right wheel bearing assemblies? What are the best brands for the wheel bearing hub assembly? RockAuto and PartsGeek have significantly cheaper prices, should I purchase from them vs Lexus? Best regards, Mike B. | |||||
| Answer to: clutch not disengaging completely | 33Relevance | 1 year ago | Oskool | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| You mentioned the pilot bearing looked good, but if there is a problem with it you'll experience exactly what you're describing. The clutch will appear like it's not fully disengaging because the flywheel might be turning the input shaft on the transmission due to the pilot bearing being seized. The pilot bearing can also become damaged when reinstalling the transmission if the input shaft isn't lined up with the pilot bearing hole. Hitting the pilot bearing with the input shaft can damage the bearing. I don't know if this is what's causing the clutch to not fully disengage, but it's worth keeping in the back of your mind. South Main Auto has a great 3 part series on replacing the clutch on a Mustang. Here's the part where he talks about how a bad pilot bearing can prevent the clutch from disengaging. | |||||
| RE: 2005 LX AWD 5-Speed With Bad Thrust Bearings? | 33Relevance | 5 years ago | CanukFixIt | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The throwout bearing was intact but had broken tabs. I posted a query about this on the Honda Element Owner's Club earlier this year: The clutch disk was actually in good shape with signs of wear but you could still see the grooves in it - lots more material available IMHO and I even considered reinstalling it with just a new release bearing. The pressure plate and flywheel were also in good shape with only a couple of heat spots but no scoring and no cracks. Those I also considered reinstalling with the old disk. As stated, the rattling condition improved but was still there when you first press in the clutch and you could even get the rattling sound sometimes when you held in the clutch all the way and revved the engine to 2-3k. I thought it may be poor quality release bearing that came with the Exidy kit (too loose) so bought an OEM which had a slightly smaller inside bore and installed that one (so this meant that I removed the clutch twice!). I reused the original clutch fork, pivot and spring which seemed intact and showed normal signs of wear. The old clutch never grabbed; just rattled allot and the condition occurred all at once this spring. Step three was to replace both clutch slave and master cylinder. No change. The K24 Honda engines have a large main bearing bed plate as opposed to the classic individual main bearing caps so there's actually a whole lot to accessing the thrust bearing and I am actually not sure if I can even properly take it down while the engine is still in the car with parts still attached to both ends of the crankshaft. These Honda engines are not known for worn thrust bearing issues, even when driven over 400,000 kms! I welcome any more input you may have to offer. Thanks! | |||||

| I think you can eliminate the knuckle and bearing itself from being the problem. As you know, there should be little to no difference in the torque required. Look at the linked article and see if any of the do and don't apply to you. Good luck! | |||||

| Wheel Bearing Adjustment/ Need New Bearing Already? | 31Relevance | 4 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I noticed yesterday when I was rolling my '79 Pontiac Catalina down to the flat spot on my driveway that I was hearing a little bit of a clunk kind of noise in the front end. The best I can describe it, is sounding like that tink that you hear when you run over a manhole cover. It started when the car moved, then stopped until it rolled again. I jacked up the front end and tugged at the wheels. No play. I gave them a spin, and the noise happened just as the wheel starts to turn and they would do it when you change the direction of rotation. I followed the adjustment procedure as written in GM's service manual, and the driver's side stopped making the noise. The passenger side still made the noise, unless I left the axle nut around finger tight. I left it at that and stuck the new cotter pin in, as the next hole in the castle nut was too loose. Is this an indication of a worn bearing in need of replacement already? I hear nothing driving that would indicate a bad bearing (roaring, etc.) There's plenty of grease in the hub. | |||||
| Answer to: Replaced Wheel Bearing, but There is a New Noise | 31Relevance | 2 years ago | Hixster | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The new noise might have been masked by the wheel bearing' noise. Noises can be hard to find, regardless, you need to find where the new noise is coming from. Have a buddy ride along and see if the extra ears might help find the culprit. Scotty has a video on how to find 'hard to find' noises: | |||||
