| Hi Scotty, I recently inherited my grandparents 2009 Ford Taurus SEL 3.5L v6 automatic with 38k on the odometer. Is there anything with this particular make and model I should nip in the bud now before mechanical failure? I am currently hearing a creak from the front passenger side when pulling in and out of my driveway that has me concerned. | |||||

| Scotty, I have a 2011 Ford Taurus SEL bought new. I have replaced the battery twice since the factory original gave up the ghost. The two IA Key Fobs for the "push start" ignition will not retain their programming. This is the first time this has happened. All accessories work when either key fob is placed in the center console - engine starts and can be driven. The only issue is not able to use either key fob to lock or unlock the doors. Would disconnecting the battery cables for maybe 30 minutes and reconnecting reestablish communication between the k ... | |||||

| Why is my 2002 Ford Taurus buck bucking at highway speeds? | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | Joeyjg | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2002 Ford Taurus SE Station Wagon with about 133K miles. The car seems to have been taken care of well, but I'm not sure if it's been driven hard. I just replaced the spark plugs and it is still bucking while accelerating at 60+. It seems to shift no problem, it bucks (lurching back and forth) on occasion while accelerating and stops when I let off the gas. I got the car used, I believe it just had one owner prior to myself. | |||||

| Engine knocking sound in 2016 Ford Taurus | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | kol194 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, I recently purchased a 2016 Ford Taurus SEL with 50,000 miles, 3.5L Duratec Engine, Automatic 6 speed transmission. After driving the car for about 5,000 miles I can now hear a consistent knocking sound coming from the upper air intake area. There is no engine lights on and I have not run a scan on the car. The car has had regular oil changes, but that is all the maintenance history that I have. I'm about to the change the coolant and spark plugs I'm hoping that helps. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks | |||||

| Hi Scotty. I used to own a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO with a 5-speed manual transmission. It was a screamer! If I remember correctly, it was equipped with a 3.0 litre Yamaha V6. Do you know the history of that marriage between Ford and Yamaha? If so, I believe it would make for a very interesting video. Thanks! | |||||
| Answer to: 2018 Ford Taurus or 2018 Toyota Avalon? | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | 7.3PunchInA3.4 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I think that Taurus would easily get you 200K miles without any big problemos. They're of course famous for water pumps that go bad and leak into the oil pans, but that isn't a 10K job and could be done preventatively if you're that worried about it. I can't imagine spending near 10K more for an Avalon just for that Toyota badge to greet me on the hood. You didn't mention trims... I would go and test drive both and buy whichever one you like the driving experience of more, instead of basing soley upon the oval on the hood. The Avalon is a better vehicle but ... | |||||

| Since you keep your vehicle to at least 200,000 miles go with the Avalon. Justin Shepherd is correct in his assessment and I have nothing to add there. As a bonus, the Avalon at 200,000 miles will still have much better resale value than the Taurus. Rarely do people have buyer’s remorse or regret buying a Toyota despite the higher price tag. However, that is not the case with Ford whose quality/reliability has degraded over the years. | |||||
| 2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L V6 OHV Gas 171,000 miles - Small Head Gasket Leak | 17Relevance | 4 years ago | Grace | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, (2003 Ford Taurus 3.0L V6 OHV Gas 171,000 miles) I believe I have a small head gasket leak. I have replaced my Valve Cover Gaskets, Timing Cover Gasket, and Oil Pan Gasket. I was hoping that would take care of my problems and avoid having to tear the engine down to the block to change the head gasket. Sadly, I still have problems, so I know it's the head gasket. I am losing coolant, not super fast, but enough to be noticeable. I also have white smoke coming from my exhaust. A little bit of white smoke is coming out of the tailpipe, but the majority ... | |||||

| Dear Scotty, What is the better deal, a 2018 Toyota Avalon or 2018 Ford Taurus? Both have about 40k miles. The Ford is $20,000 and the Toyota is $29,500. I know they Toyota is generally more reliable, but is it $10,000 more reliable? It seems I could do a lot of repairs for $10 grand. Also, I tend to keep my cars to around 200,000 miles. Thanks | |||||
