| Hey Scotty! I am considering buying this car for my son as his first car. about 84,XXX miles, turbo I-4 AWD automatic, titanium trim level. I am buying from a friend for 10K because he owes me a favor. Oil changed every 5k miles, kept well. Should I get the car? My son needs an SUV for sports equipment. If this car isn't good what would you recommend? | |||||
| 2007 Lexus LS460, 122k Miles, Transmission Drain&Fill -- Or Let It Be? | 10Relevance | 4 years ago | DoctorQuality | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Question Summary: 2007 Lexus LS460, 122k miles. Should I do a first drain&fill of the (supposed) "lifetime transmission fluid"-- or just let it be? Being semi-retired, I hope to drive this vehicle for quite a while, until I drive it to the nursing home! So I would like to take good care of it with proper drain&fills -- if the risks of malfunction/failure from doing so are sufficiently low. All The Details: The LS460 (in the USA) is promoted as having the infamous "lifetime transmission fluid." However I discovered that, in every other country on Ear ... | |||||

| I have a 2004 Nissan 350z automatic with 68,000 miles. Occasionally after sitting for a while or overnight, the car won't start on the first try, even after leaving the keys in the "on" position for a few seconds to give the fuel pump time to start up. The car has no check engine codes either. I bought the car from the original owner, who only put about 2,000 miles on the car in his last 3 years of ownership. I recently changed the battery and cleaned the MAF sensor and the throttle body, but didn't seem to help the situation. Any idea what it could po ... | |||||

| Hey Scotty, a friend of mine has been saving up to get her first car. Her parents think that she should lease a car, but I think she should pay cash for a reliable used car, preferably a Toyota, that way she doesn't have to worry about monthly car payments and only being able to get full coverage insurance. Any tips that you can give her to help her in making a decision? (Also, can you you probably include this in one of your Q&A videos?) | |||||

| ... had left the state and moved down south. SO I was on the hunt for a new mechanic. I started going to a local shop that was not a specialist. One day about a year and a half into owning the car I was driving on the highway and my car started to stall and the message on the screen said engine malfunction. Luckily the exit I was nearest to had a Midas right off the exit so I managed to get the car to it and asked the gentleman inside, who was working on a 330 BMW at the time, what could possibly be the issue. He looked at it and told me the serpentine belt was ... | |||||

| Sports cars and drivers just starting out don't mix very well. Your or your parents' car insurance will skyrocket if you buy that car. Throw in that the car would be brand-new, your insurance will enjoy your monthly payment, you or your parents, not so much. Personally, I'd skip buying sports cars until you're 25 or so. Your premiums will decrease significantly, and you'll have a few years worth of driving experience before you go whole hog on buying one. I got my 2017 Mustang when it was brand new in 2018, I was 27 at that time. I still have it. I have full coverage on both my truck and Mustang and it only costs me $150 a month. I've never been in an accident, and I've never gotten a ticket in the 12 years I've driven. My wife's insurance on her 2017 EcoBoost Mustang alone costs her $150 a month because she's gotten tickets. | |||||
| 2020 Honda Civic Si, 2020 VW Jetta GLI, or 2021 Honda Accord 2.0t Sport? | 10Relevance | 5 years ago | the-niman | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... combination of: comfort, reliability, being fun to drive, not-terrible fuel economy, and a solid powerplant. Basically, I am looking a fun but not too expensive daily driver. The options are: 2020 Honda Civic Si, 2020 VW Jetta GLI, and 2021 Honda Accord 2.0t Sport. I first thought about buying the Honda Accord 2.0t Sport. This is much bigger than the Lexus, but performance-wise, is great. It has a solid power plant (252 hp and 273 lb ft), and it drives pretty smooth, but the suspension is still sturdy. It comes standard with a bunch of convenience features ... | |||||

| Now when I finance a car, should I get financing through a dealership or should I get the loan directly from my bank before hand an buy the car outright from the dealership with the loaned money. I heard somewhere that getting a loan through the bank first is the smarter financial decision. Definitely go through your bank ahead of time. I actually am in the market as well and first time buying a brand new car from a dealer. I asked similar questions and got excellent feedback from our community: | |||||

| Out of those two, the Subaru Impreza would be the better choice. That however doesn't change the fact that the Impreza is overpriced. I would shoot for the $7000 range or less. View the Used car Buying Guide for more information on buying used cars. Also check out the first car topic tag to see what was said before. Forget about the Mercedes. The Impreza is a pretty good car but the common problems are with the CVT automatic and excessive oil consumption. Other good choices in your price range for a first car include the 2011-2016 Toyota Corolla, 2013 Hon ... | |||||

| 2020 Honda civic Si I got this civic a couple months ago (2020 si with 21,900 miles) and had to replace the tires and clutch first thing. I have another problem that I thought was related to driving with a burned out clutch but it still happens rarely after it was replaced. When switching into first gear and starting to take it will a kind of "soft" stall where there's no weird sounds or bucking and it feels like the car is engaged. It happened so quietly I couldn't tell it stalled until the prompt to restart the engine came up. Yesterday on the way to wor ... | |||||

| I'm sixteen and I'm looking to get my first car. I don't have a preference really, as long as it drives well and looks decent, and maybe has 4 wheel drive since I live somewhere that gets snowy. I have about 10,000 dollars to use right now and I'll have around 15,000 soon (but of course I'll want the cheapest option). My dad doesn't know much about cars and he's looking at used car dealerships. I've seen some of Scotty Kilmer's videos today and he says they're not that great. Is there somewhere I can look other than a used car dealership? What car is a good ... | |||||

| Hello, I'm a 18 year old male from Romania and I'm thinking about what car should I buy as my first car. I can buy a Toyota Celica 1997 1.6 Petrol or a Hyundai Accent 2006/2007. My dad keeps bugging me about the Celica, he says that the car is too long for a beginner and that I drive it in a busy city, so it would be hard for me to drive. Also, he is saying that the parts would be a problem because its and old car. I dont know what counter argument to say to him. In his eyes, the Hyundai Accennt is by far better, its shorter than the Celica, also the Hyundai ... | |||||

| Hi everyone new to this forum! I typed a whole novel of a backstory here so skip to the end if you don't wanna read all this. I recently was told that I would be receiving my first car earliest this December and since then I have been researching the crap out of cars and the best car practices. I have used services like Autotrader which are great for finding cars being sold in my area. But it doesn't help with actually finding the car I would want/need. My Parent originally wanted me to get a 4WD because she believes that I would probably need it. Were mo ... | |||||
