| Does the sensor test as bad? You did not state the code number but presumably it is p0420. There are quite a few things that can cause that code, including exhaust leaks. | |||||

| ... solution other than paying a lot for an OEM catalytic converter. It was $9 and easy to install, there are many videos on YouTube showing how its done. The p0420 Code p0420 95% of the time is caused by a clogged, worn out, or non existent catalytic converter. In rare cases it can be triggered by a bad O2 sensor or exhaust leak. What I suggest before replacing any parts is to install this spacer, it will tell you right away if the catalytic converter is bad or not (P0420 will not return), and if you want to leave the problem fixed for $9, you can! | What codes were present at that time? Possibly. Test it with a back-pressure gauge. Have you looked up the potential causes for that code? | Have you looked up the various conditions that can trigger the p0420 code and how to diagnose it? The problem isn't necessarily the converter itself. The fact that this code popped up after having other work done on the exhaust system suggests a different cause - especially if the shop was so incompetent it took them 3 tries to install a turbocharger. (Hopefully you haven't done too much damage to your fuel system by pouring in so much of that crap into the tank. Using Marvel Mystery oil in your fuel is not a good idea either.) | |||||

| P1233 has to do with the electronic throttle body. You could try cleaning it with the appropriate spray cleaner in case it's sticking a bit: p0420 usually means your catalytic converter is bad but there are other possible causes. See diagnostic information for in the links below: | |||||

| Have you checked into the possible causes of p0420 other than the converter and O2 sensors? That's a common code, if you search the board and check the FAQ you'll find a lot of information. Also, it would be best to stay away from dealers and find a good independent mechanic. | |||||
