| Hi Scotty, My 2008 Toyota Vellfire, with the 2GRFE V6 and u660e transmission has 145,000 kms on it. Recently it need a full service and computer repair for bind management on 3rd to 4th gear. Once this was done, it shifts perfectly fine. My real question is, how well do they hold up in your experience? FYI:- I drive with a gentle foot. Thanks Tanmay | |||||

| Answer to: Should I change transmission fluid? | 17Relevance | 1 year ago | MountainManJoe | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If it has one one, then yes of course filters need to be changed. Call your local parts dealer with your VIN and see if they have one, or check online catalogs like rockauto.com, but the mechanic should know. Or, like Justin said, look at what transmission you have. Video: Weber Auto - Which Transmission is in My Toyota or Lexus? I think you have a Toyota u660e, which takes this filter (part# 35330-48020) | |||||
| 07 Lexus Transmission Flaring (slipping) | 17Relevance | 3 years ago | Dave5000 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Greetings to the community! On February, I bought a 2007 Lexus ES350 base with 95k miles that had been sitting for a year or more. I changed all fluids and some suspension parts and it has been driving amazingly until I flushed the transmission (cooling line method with Aisin WS fluid) and changed the filter. I leveled the car to almost perfection using a torpedo level under it and warmed the transmission fluid to 110°F, then drain the fluid until small drip. (Like manual says) The problem is that (only when cold started) it flares when shifting from 2-3 and 3-4 for a while until fluid warms up past 170°F. Then it shifts amazingly smooth again. So the problem is only when transmission is cold. (The car is in Miami btw) I have read on the Internet that this transmission (U660e) had problems at the begining (lucky me) but Lexus eventually fixed them. So I went to the "Stealership" but they told me my VIN was not included in the service bulletin; that they could do an update and reset of the TCM (for $300) but it would probably fix anything. So now I wanted to ask about your thoughts, recommendations, and maybe experience about this issue. Btw, I was thinking about two options: 1. Getting one of those Techstream devices and trying to update and reset the TCM myself. 2. Since the problem is only when fluid is cold, my logic says that there might not be enough fluid so I was thinking about adding 100ml everyday too see if it gets better (stopping at 300ml or 400ml to avoid overfilling too much) . Any input will be greatly appreciated and welcome! | |||||

| I would change it. Especially on a problematic transmission like your u660e. If it gets clogged you're hooped. You change your engine oil + filter regularly don't ya? | |||||

| As you said opinions on the u660e (this usually means it’s a variants of the) Aisin TM-60LS are mixed - it’s not a bulletproof transmission at all. It tends to burn it’s friction packets, it has issues with their valve bodies and bearing quality, the teflon seals get worn out, issues with the shifter. 250k miles is impressive for one of these, the ones I’ve seen lasted way less. Hard shifts when cold could be issues with the valve body and it also could be the friction packs beginning to slip. | |||||

| ... - or a Fit and a Civic, you pick based on what you can afford, condition and size. As far as new cars? Civic vs. Camry? The Camry is a foot longer, a bit wider, the 2.5L 4 cylinder and the V6 come with a conversional automatic gearbox and not some trashy small cvt - it's on a whole different level. A lot of companies make great engines - Mazda's SkyActive is great, Ford's DuraTec HE is great (powered the previous gen. Miata), even VW had some gems like the GTI 35's EA113. There are plenty of good engines and transmissions. Aisin? well they have some goo ... | |||||

| @joem22 There is no such thing as a V4. You have an i4 and it's attached to a U760E 6-speed automatic transmission. The V6 model also has a 6-speed but, it's a heavier duty u660e transmission which doesn't have the problem. Unfortunately , there are a LOT of pissed off owners with your Camry , who have this shudder. Toyota is refusing to fix what is obviously a defective or badly designed transmission. Shame on Toyota. I wish Scotty and other would talk about this more, before recommending Toyota to everybody. I don' t know what to you tell you. You can try ... | |||||
