03 Honda Accord Valve cover bolt and misfire

03 Honda Accord V6... Hey Scotty I was replacing my valve cover gaskets and when I was torquing one of the valve cover bolts it snapped and the top of the bolt came off with the grommet. Do you have any suggestions on how to get the bottom of the bolt out? And I also put everything back to see if it’ll start up. But when I started the car it started missing firing and it wasn’t doing that before and the back of the engine started smoking after running for less than a minute. Do you know what this could be? And I checked all the hoses I disconnected before and they were connected. Thanks and I love the channel

FWIW, I over torqued and snapped a bolt too, on a 99 Accord.  I attempted to tap it out with a special bit tool set a got from Harbor Freight.  There are these two special drill bits, one to drill a reverse hole, and the other to try to unscrew it out.

I wasn't too successful, and I didn't want to damage the engine.  So I ended up just leaving the broken bolt in.  I asked this forum if it was okay to leave it in, and they seemed okay with the idea.

Maybe I will try again.  Let us know if you find out how to do it!

It’s ok even though it’s one of the bolts with the grommets that seal the oil in? It wouldn’t cause my engine to misfire?

I had the same question, and folks here said it was ok. I actually just kept the bolt on, even thought it was cut in half. So far so good on my end, I hope to try again on actually extracting the bottom half bolt.

I don’t think it’s the cause of the misfire. The cylinders have some sort of head cover. The bolt broke on the valve cover.

Won't cause a misfire. Recheck all electrical connections. Run engine at night and look for arcing in engine bay.
