[Solved] 08 Corolla Engine mounting OEM vs aftermarket?

Hey Scotty and moderators! My Mechanic inspected my 08 Corolla with 200k KM, he said I need new set of engine mount. (The engine look jack up first before whole front car). My question is can I use discount part or should I stick to OEM?

I not sure which manufacturer make Corolla engine mount but autozone said is MCR. Other seller I get quotes is said OEM from Thailand which is 2 times cheaper than Original quote by dealer, but I kinda doubt it quality. What do you all think?

Listen to "InThrustWeTrust."

Personally spoked to those who dealt with this before and while it is possible the part was wrong or defective or whatever, too many curse words to translate into, "go oem."

I would use genuine OEM engine mounts if you value longevity.

If your seller can prove that the Thailand sourced mounts are genuine OEM, I’d go with that because Thailand is a manufacturing hub for Toyota vehicles.

I forgot to mention. Genuine or not, do not make plans that day. Sad to say, sometime the genuine parts do not work or need modifying to work(bending, drilling, etc.)

Soon as you get the part, fit it, make sure it works before accepting and calling it a day.

Transportation damage, factory defect seems to be reacurringning more lately.

OEM if you can, but make sure its genuine.

Aftermarket parts can be a big cost savings. Especially on non moving stationary parts. I’d lookup the manufacturer’s feedback on their parts see what other people and mechanics are saying. Keep in mind some people maybe paid to say good things.

Not usually on Toyotas but other manufacturers in some cases aftermarket can be better. Example AC Delco AC compressors last about 60k miles. There are company’s who build clones much better quality at a lesser price. Do a little research is my advice.
