Scotty, I've owned my 93 Camry for almost 3 years. I paid $500 for it and it had 106,000 miles then. This Clunker is the best car I've ever owned. It never breaks down like my other card did. Sure, normal maintenance, but the 93 Camry is amazing! Best $500 I ever spent. I'ts ugly, but so what, LOL. Cold AC, Cassette still works, I'm playing my old Charlie Pride Christmas Cassette tape in it now! I love this car. It's made like a tank. I'm 375 lbs, lol, and I have more room between my belly and the steering wheel than I had in my old Mercury Grand Marquis! Such a well designed car. My question concerns the RPM gauge and the Speedometer Gauge that don't work. The gas gauge and temperature gauges work perfect. When I first start my car, sometimes the crazy Speedometer needle goes way up as if it's the RPM gauge then comes back down. The RPM gauge moves a little. They stope working after only a few seconds, a little longer in the winter. What do you think this is. Crazy how the Speedometer needle jumps up quickly on a cold start up then comes down to 0. Confused? Also, I was told that the second generation Toyota Camry's, 92-96, that the 92 and 93 were the best of the years. Something about them starting to use electronic solenoids in the Transmissions in 1994, and the 1995 and 1996 put out less horse power due to pollution control standards?Β

I’d get another gauge cluster from a junkyard and check if that fixes it.Β

If you don’t wanna spend anything at all (since you only bought it for $500!!), use a speedometer app on your smartphone and just be done with it.
